QIDDIYA - PLAY LIFE

 

HoD Editorial at Revenant for the delivery of 5x episodes of Unreal cinematics for Saudi Megaproject Qiddiya. Whilst it is still in the process of being built, Qiddiya offers game enthusiasts a glimpse into an immersive, ever changing world. A dynamic park tailored to the sensibilities of gamers where you are free to dive into mesmerising arenas dedicated to play. Whether it is an ancient dungeon, a cyberpunk city, a space shuttle adventure, Qiddiya provides a tapestry of rich options.

With the Saudi aquisition of ESL, the central arena will become the main venue for e-sports teams to compete against each other.

Working closely with entertainment designers, Thinkwell, Revenant was responsible for:

  • bringing to life the playground and imparting game rationale on the various arenas we were commissioned to explore

  • engineering a manual pipeline for effective collaboration across departments and providing documentation regarding ‘best practice’

  • writing character driven scripts to represent the diversity of experiences available at Qiddiya

  • working closely with the layout department to block out scenes prior to mo-cap and provide reference material for shoot days

  • supervising the motion-capture shoot at Centroid, and preparing the timely turnaround of reference material for audio session at Centroid x Envy’s London audio and face capture facility in Soho

  • ensuring the integrity of sequence data from pre-vis > motion capture > layout > animation > Unreal engine to final delivery

  • communicating with vendors and stakeholders regarding changes to the script and run-time implications

  • packing assets IN & OUT for multiple clients, contractors, asset delivery

  • creative contributions to plot, pace and camera angles during daillies review sessions and departmental channels

  • primarily using Adobe Premiere Pro for editorial and post-production, with colour workflows managed in DaVinci Resolve

  • delivering ProRes 422 HQX exports from path-traced, UHD, .EXR renders.
